Author Quick-Start Agreement — Life-Changing Wisdom Marketplace

Welcome to Life-Changing Wisdom! This Quick-Start Agreement is a simplified summary of the key terms for publishing your transformation memoir or digital content on our marketplace. By accepting this agreement, you’ll be able to start selling immediately.

1. What You’re Agreeing To

By publishing on Life-Changing Wisdom Marketplace, you agree to:

• Our revenue split (80% for you, 20% for us)
• Our quality standards (WAT scoring)
• Our customer email sharing policy
• The full terms in our Vendor Agreement

2. Revenue Split: 80% for You, 20% for Us

You Keep the Majority

• 80% of net sales proceeds go to you
• 20% goes to Life-Changing Wisdom to maintain the platform
• Net sales = Customer payment minus production costs (printing, shipping, taxes)

How You Get Paid

• Monthly payouts via Stripe Connect
• Minimum threshold: $50
• Payments sent to your designated bank account
• You’ll receive detailed sales reports

3. You Own Your Content

Ownership

• You retain full ownership of your intellectual property
• You can sell your work elsewhere (Amazon, your own website, etc.)
• Your copyright stays with you

What We Get

• A non-exclusive license to sell your work on our platform
• Permission to create print-on-demand copies when customers order
• Rights to display your cover, excerpts, and promotional materials
• Ability to share your files with print partners (Lulu, Printful) for production

What This Means

• We can sell your book and market it, but we don’t own it
• You can leave anytime and take your work with you
• If you terminate your account, we’ll stop new sales but fulfill existing customer orders

4. Customer Email Sharing

Unlike Amazon, We Share Customer Emails With You

• When someone buys your book, you get their email address and order details
• You can build your audience directly

Your Responsibilities

• Use emails only for your own marketing (not spam or selling to others)
• Comply with email laws (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, etc.)
• Provide an unsubscribe link in every marketing email
• Keep customer data secure and confidential

Why This Matters

• Most platforms (Amazon, etc.) keep customer data private
• We believe authors should own their audience
• Customers consent to this when they purchase

5. Quality Standards: WAT Scoring

All submissions are reviewed using our Wisdom Alignment Test (WAT) scorecard. We score each submission 1–5 on:

1. Practicality – Can readers apply this wisdom?
2. Authenticity – Is the story genuine and vulnerable?
3. Reflection – Did pain lead to wisdom?
4. Craftsmanship – Is it well-written and structured?
5. Impact Potential – Will this transform lives?

Approval Threshold

• Average score of 3.5+ = Approved for publication
• Below 3.5 = We’ll offer editorial coaching to help you improve (optional, paid program)

6. What You Promise

You Own the Rights

• You created the content or have permission to use it
• No one else can claim your work infringes their copyright
• You have rights to all images, quotes, and other materials in your book

Content Is Legal and Accurate

• Your work doesn’t violate any laws
• You’re not defaming anyone
• Product descriptions are truthful

You’ll Handle Contributor Payments

• If you worked with a co-author, editor, or illustrator, you’ll pay them
• We pay you; you pay your team
• We’re not responsible for splitting your earnings

7. How Print-on-Demand Works

For Physical Books

• Customer places order → We send your file to Lulu Direct → Book printed & shipped
• Production time: 3–7 business days
• Print costs deducted from sale price before revenue split

For Merchandise

• Customer places order → We send your design to Printful → Item produced & shipped
• Production time: 3–7 business days

You’re Responsible For

• Providing print-ready files (we’ll give you specs)
• Ensuring files meet technical requirements (margins, resolution, etc.)

8. Refund Policy (Industry Standard)

Digital Products (Ebooks)

• 7-day refund window if not downloaded
• No refunds after content is accessed

Physical Books

• 30-day return window
• Customer pays return shipping (unless defective)
• We cover return shipping for printing errors

Merchandise

• 30 days for defects only
• No returns for buyer’s remorse on custom items

Impact on You: If a customer gets a refund, we deduct your 80% share from future payouts.

9. What We’re Not Responsible For

Platform Disclaimers

• We’re a marketplace, not a publisher
• We don’t guarantee any level of sales
• We don’t edit or proofread your content
• Print quality issues are handled by fulfillment partners
• We’re not liable for shipping delays or lost packages

Your Protection

• We’ll help resolve issues when possible
• We curate for quality to protect the marketplace
• We provide transparent reporting and customer support

10. How to Terminate

If You Want to Leave

• Email us at team@lifechangingwisdom.com
• We’ll remove your listings within 5 business days
• Existing customer orders will still be fulfilled
• You keep all earned revenue

If We Terminate Your Account

• We may suspend or terminate if you violate this agreement
• We’ll notify you and explain why
• You’ll still get paid for completed sales

11. Legal Protection (Indemnification)

If someone sues us because of your content, you agree to cover our legal costs and any damages. To avoid this: only use content you own or have permission to use, get proper licenses for images and quotes, and be truthful and don’t defame anyone.

12. Jurisdiction & Disputes

This agreement is governed by Wyoming law. Disputes are resolved in Wyoming courts. Contact us first to try to resolve issues informally — most problems can be solved with a conversation.

13. Acceptance

By clicking “I Agree,” you acknowledge that you’ve read this Quick-Start Agreement, reviewed the full Vendor Agreement, agree to the 80/20 revenue split, consent to customer email sharing, understand our quality standards, own the rights to your content, and will comply with all applicable laws.
