Revenue Model
Life-Changing Wisdom Marketplace | Effective: June 18, 2026 | Last updated: June 18, 2026 | Version: 2.0
Life-Changing Wisdom Marketplace is built on transparency and a fair division of every sale. This document explains how revenue is split, how payouts work, and the terms around them. It is part of our Vendor Agreement and subject to our Terms of Service.
1. The split
For every sale, the retail price your customer pays is divided between you and the platform. This is a split, calculated on the retail price before any costs.
On book sales, the split is 85/15: your share is 85%, the platform commission is 15%.
On merchandise and other Products, the split is 80/20: your share is 80%, the platform commission is 20%.
What each side carries. You carry the production cost of your physical Products, meaning what our print partners (Lulu for books, Printful for merchandise) charge to make and ship each item. That cost comes out of your share. The platform carries the payment processing fees (Stripe). We do not pass processing fees to you. For digital Products, which have no production cost, your full share is yours.
A worked example. On a book priced at $25.00:
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Customer pays (retail) | $25.00 |
| Your share (85%) | $21.25 |
| Platform commission (15%) | $3.75 |
| Production, out of your share (Lulu print + ship) | −$9.93 |
| Payment processing, out of platform share (Stripe) | −$1.03 |
| Your take-home | $11.32 |
| Platform take-home | $2.72 |
Sales tax is added on top of the $25.00, paid by the customer, and remitted to the state. It is not part of either side’s share. Your storefront shows your production cost and your resulting net on each Product, so you price with your true margin in front of you.
2. Payouts
Schedule. Payments are distributed monthly, 45 days after the end of the month in which the sale occurred. If your book sells in January, payment arrives by mid-March, 45 days after January 31. After your first cycle, payments arrive monthly on a rolling basis.
This 45-day window is in place for the beta period. It protects both you and the marketplace against returns, refunds, chargebacks, and delivery issues, most of which surface within that window. We will review the timing as the beta plays out and adjust if the data supports it.
Why the hold exists. Customers can dispute a credit card charge for 60 days under federal law, and card networks often extend that to 120 days. Most returns and delivery issues surface within 30 days. The 45-day hold lets those resolve before money goes out, which keeps the platform stable for every vendor.
No minimum payout. Whether you earn $5 or $500, you receive your payout after the 45-day window. There is no minimum threshold.
Method. Payouts are made through Stripe to the bank account connected to your vendor profile. You need an active Stripe account linked to your profile. Funds typically arrive 1 to 5 business days after they are sent. You can update payout details anytime in your dashboard.
Reporting. Monthly sales reports are available in your dashboard, with units sold, gross revenue, production costs, your net, and your share. Reports download as PDF and CSV, and real-time tracking is in your dashboard.
3. Production and fulfillment costs
You are responsible for the production and fulfillment costs of your physical Products. These come out of your share of the sale.
Production costs include printing and binding for books, manufacturing for merchandise, and the actual shipping cost to deliver to the customer. We use third-party fulfillment partners (Lulu, Printful) and pass through their actual costs with no markup. Every cost is shown in your sales reports and on each Product before you publish it.
Payment processing fees are carried by the platform, not deducted from your share.
4. Taxes
You are responsible for the taxes on your earnings, including income tax and self-employment tax. We issue 1099-K forms automatically through Stripe where IRS thresholds apply, at no cost to you. The platform collects and remits sales tax where required by law, including Connecticut sales tax. You are responsible for any additional tax obligations in your jurisdiction.
We recommend consulting a tax professional about your specific obligations as an independent vendor.
5. Changes to this model
We may modify this revenue model. Vendors receive at least 30 days’ written notice of substantive changes, announced by email and posted on this page. Existing products may be grandfathered at our discretion. Continued use of the platform after a change takes effect means you accept it. The current version is always available at this page and linked in our footer.
6. Co-authors and contributors
If you work with co-authors, editors, illustrators, or other contributors, you are responsible for distributing your share among them. The platform pays only the principal vendor on record. Payment arrangements with your contributors are between you and them. We recommend a written agreement with every contributor before publishing.
7. Customer relationships
When a customer buys your Product, you receive the customer information connected to the sale, and you build the relationship directly. This is one of the ways the marketplace is built for you.
That access carries responsibilities, covered fully in your Vendor Agreement: you contact customers about their orders freely, but marketing requires their opt-in consent; you do not sell, rent, or transfer customer data to third parties; every marketing message includes a working unsubscribe; and your communications comply with applicable email and privacy laws, including CAN-SPAM. Misuse of customer data may result in suspension or termination.
8. What the platform commission funds
The platform commission supports the development and maintenance of the marketplace, hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, chargeback protection, customer support, marketing that drives traffic to vendors, and the legal and administrative work of running the platform.
9. Refunds, returns, and chargebacks
When a customer receives a refund or files a chargeback, the full amount is refunded to the customer, and both your share and the platform commission reverse in proportion. Any payment already made to you for that sale is deducted from future earnings; if future earnings are insufficient, you may be invoiced for the reversed amount. Production costs on a returned item are handled according to the fulfillment partner’s terms for damaged, defective, or misprinted goods.
Because of the 45-day payout hold, most chargebacks and returns resolve before you are paid, so clawbacks are rare. For complete details, see our Refund and Return Policy.
10. Account reconciliation
If you have a question about a payment or believe there is an error, review your sales report, then contact us at team@lifechangingwisdom.com within 30 days of the payment in question. Include your vendor ID, the payment date, and the discrepancy. We respond within 10 business days.
